Awaiting our departure from the Crow-
As Lan has come to bring us back to the mainland from the crow, you are all discussing and deciding how to row ourselves back to shore.. Kagome moves to the stern of the small fishing ship to contemplate her feelings about the slaying of the demon.
"was it necessary?" "what made him a beast?" "would they slay me if they knew what I really was?"...
In her contemplative state Kagome finds herself scanning the horizon. She catches about a hundred yards to the north, out into the sea, a boat. The boat is larger than the normal fishing boats in the cove. It has a single mast and sail, and oar ports on either side. Kagome can see two men on the deck of the boat standing near the rail, one seems to be looking in our direction with a spyglass... They gesture to each other and speak, It seems to Kagome as if they noticed her observations of them, and then they moved below deck... She relays this to the party, and asks if anyone else can tell if the boat has any markings that may indicate who is aboard.

"That, my friends is a bireme. It can be manned by just a few people, probably more than just the 2 we see, but can also hold a crew of several dozen. It's not something that merchants would typically use. It could be a blockade runner, since it can go pretty fast over short distances with good rowers and a favorable wind. It could also be used to navigate rivers. Very flexible boat."
ReplyDelete"As you can see, the oars are currently stored. So that suggests that the vessel is probably anchored. I can't see the colors or markings. Curious what they are up to. Lan, any reason why they might be sitting out there?"
"They are either watching us or the Crow. If it is us, I have no worries - we can deal with them at our leisure. If it is the Crow, then I am reluctant to leave this behind and 'hope' that soon after we leave, intruders enter and either lay in wait for us or plunder the area deeper down, where we have not explored. I recommend that when we dock one of us keeps a watch and we hire someone(s) to do so for the time being>"
DeleteGarath squints past Kigome across the water, barely able to perceive the bireme. "Not sure I want to be caught out in the open water, if we need to deal with that thing. Perhaps we should just back up into a secure location inside and hole up for the night?"
ReplyDeleteAs the group discusses the next move, Garath tries to keep one eye on the suspect schooner.
Garath watches the suspicious ship sail into the sunset.
ReplyDeleteSo? Stay or go?
"Given that the last time we left the Crow someone came in and took the fresco, I think that leaving might not be the best idea. Baring some wounds that should heal w/ a bit of rest, I don't think we have a huge need to run to town. THEREFORE, I vote to rest up by that healing pool, get full refreshed, and head down to face more demonic/devilish challenges."
